The Horniman Museum

A few weeks ago I visited The Horniman Museum in Forest Hill, South East London. It is approximately nine minutes from my front door and I’m appalled that I haven’t been sooner.

The beautiful Victorian building is surrounded by 16 acres of gardens, perfect for families on a sunny day. There’s a local farmers market held in the Horniman grounds every Saturday from 9am – 1.30pm and all of this is before you’ve set foot in the museum. As well as having large anthropology and musical history sections, the Horniman also has an aquarium in the basement.

I forgot my digital camera so you’ll have to excuse the slightly blurry phone photos.

My favourite section was the aquarium where the jelly fish and clown fish made me beg for a fish tank at home. How cool would that be? I just need a cheap one that also self-cleans.

See how cute the little Nemo is?! Oh, and after you’ve made your way around the museum, you are most certainly due some time in the gift shop followed by some treats in the cafe. Y’know, for resting purposes only. Nothing to do with the amazing looking Victoria Sponge cake. Nothing at all.
