Why outdoor cinema is one of the best ways to spend summer evenings

On Thursday this week I ticked off another wish on the ‘30 things to do in the year I’m 30‘ list: outdoor cinema! It was absolutely everything I hoped it would be, and perhaps a little bit more. If this isn’t something you’ve done I highly recommend it.

Organised by Luna Cinema in partnership with Benefit, we had the pleasure of seeing Breakfast at Tiffany’s at Kensington Palace Gardens. It was a perfect summer’s evening and, just to be fancy, the boy and I splashed out on premier tickets. The premier tickets entitled us to these lovely lanyards, as well as a Benefit goody bag (funnily enough I was more excited by this than he was) and a two course meal – with champers – at The Organgery.

After chicken liver parfait and salmon fishcakes (delicious) we had a wander around the grounds and took our seats in the picnic area. As the sun set around us, the excitement rose; the atmosphere was just brilliant. I’ve never seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s before and I felt it had a lot of hype to live up to.

In my humble opinion, the film more than lived up to the hype – as did outside cinema. I really loved it. It was an excellent date night and a pretty good fibro-friendly activity too – though next time, I’ll take more layers. As usual, I got cold. When will I learn…

  1. I was going to say we don’t have this here, but actually we do but it’s not posh and rarely comes with dinner – will take photos and share – sometime šŸ™‚
